Varsity Head Coach Brooke Ott

Coach Ott is entering her 4th season as Coach at Dublin Scioto High School, and this year will take over as Head Varsity Coach. She has previously served as pitching coach for all 3 years and has been the JV Head Coach as well. She graduated from Capital University where she pitched and played second base, was twice name 2nd team All-OAC, and played in the NCAA tournament. She earned a degree in Integrated Mathematics. Coach Ott is originally from Clyde, Ohio, where she pitched on the varsity softball team for all 4 years, leading them to the State Semi-Finals. She also played soccer and basketball. She got married to Ethan in the summer of 2017, and is currently in her fourth year as a math teacher at Scioto, and has been with her own room this year! She has recently adopted a mini Goldendoodle named Tito!

Varsity Assistant Coach Jim Stamets

Coach Stamets will be in the Irish Varsity dugout for his 6th year, as assistant coach. His main responsibility is official scorekeeper; he also maintains team stats and writes the game summaries for the Irish Softball web-site. He will continue with his responsibility of the “grass people” and again will hit thousands of fly balls and ground balls. He has coached and “kept the book” for softball and baseball teams at various levels for over 20 years, and this year will be the first base coach as well.

Born and raised in northeastern Ohio, he moved to Columbus to attend The Ohio State University, graduated, and never left central Ohio. After working at Chase Bank and Qwest Communications, Coach Stamets has been an insurance adjuster for the last 15 years at Farmers Insurance of Columbus, (bum ba dum bum bum bum bum). He has three sons and a daughter, all of whom graduated from Dublin Scioto.

JV Head Coach Jim Amato

2019 will be the 34th season that Jim Amato has been coaching fast pitch softball. During that time he has coached at Bishop Watterson, Upper Arlington, Grandview Heights and Dublin Scioto. He has worked as JV Coach, Varsity Assistant and Varsity Head Coach. This will be his 7th year as a coach at Scioto, and this year he will serve as Head JV Coach.

As a Varsity Head Coach he served as President of the Central District Coaches Association and was a member of the State Executive Board. He has been honored by his peers as League Coach-of-the-Year and District Coach-of-the-Year. He was also presented with the OHSAA’s Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity award in 2007.

After graduating from The Ohio State University, Coach Amato spent two years in the US Army and 30 years with National City Bank and its predecessors in Columbus, retiring in 2002. Most importantly, he has been married to his wife, Phyllis, for 50 years. They have two daughters and five grandchildren.

JV Assistant Coach Brooke Hokes

Brooke joins the coaching staff this year and will serve as JV Assistant Coach.  A recent graduate of Capital University, she was primarily an asset on the bases and played in the Crusaders’ outfield. She earned a degree in Criminology and Sociology, with a minor in Psychology.

Hokie is originally from Powell, Ohio, where she occasionally caught and primarily played outfield for the Olentangy Liberty Patriots, helping them become back-to-back-to-back OCC Champs. She currently works in the sales department at Two Men and A Truck.
